Duncan Montgomery is an entertainment attorney and film producer who has been representing production companies, financiers and filmmakers for more than ten years. Mr. Montgomery has produced or provided legal services for more than twenty five movies and television projects. His films have premiered at Sundance, South by Southwest and earned Independent Spirit Award nominations. Mr. Montgomery has worked with such companies as HBO, BBC, Lionsgate, The Weinstein Company and Mandalay Pictures to name a few.

After completing a federal clerkship in the Northern District of Texas, Mr. Montgomery accepted an associate position wit Mike Tolleson & Associates. The firm represented a broad spectrum of entertainment clients including music legends Willie Nelson, Kinky Friedman and Lyle Lovett. In 2004, Mr. Montgomery opened a boutique legal practice specializing in film and television. That same year, Mr. Montgomery co-founded Fireside Releasing and established vendor accounts with Blockbuster, Neflix, Amazon, Anderson and On Command.

In 2008, Mr. Montgomery co-founded Horsethief Pictures with former PayPal executive Jack Selby. Horsethief Pictures developed and produced The Last Rites of Ransom Pride starring Kris Kristofferson, Dwight Yoakam, Cote De Pablo and Peter Dinklage. In 2011, Mr. Montgomery and Horsethief Pictures worked with Mandalay Vision to package financing for Richard Linklater’s Bernie, starring Jack Black, Matthew McConaughey and Shirley MacLaine. The film debuted as the best independent theatrical release of 2012. Other film credits include Drop Dead Sexy starring Crispin Glover and Jason Lee and the award-winning documentary TV Junkie.

Mr. Montgomery graduated from The University of Texas at Austin and received his Juris Doctor from Southern Methodist University. Mr. Montgomery and his family divide their time between Los Angeles, California and Austin, Texas.
